You must have Lives to play match-3 levels. Each time you lose a level, you lose a Life. It takes 20 minutes to replenish one Life. You can check how many Lives you have in the top left corner of the screen.

You can ask your friends to send you more Lives. You can also gain Lives by playing events or by receiving Daily Bonus rewards.
